CUMBERLAND - The Allegany County Sheriff's Office in Maryland, along with U.S. Marshals and the Secret Service continue to search for a man wanted on federal charges for allegedly making threats against law enforcement and the President of the United States.




CUMBERLAND - The Allegany County Sheriff's Office in Maryland, along with U.S. Marshals and the Secret Service continue to search for a man wanted on federal charges for allegedly making threats against law enforcement and the President of the United States.
According to a press release from Allegany County Sheriff Craig Robertson, his office received a call around 7 p.m. Sunday of a suspicious person sleeping in a vehicle on Winters Lane in the Potomac Industrial Park, Cumberland.
When deputies responded to that location, the  man fled after being spotted going towards the Potomac River.
The subject was positively identified as Shawn Richard Christy, 27, of McAdoo, Pennsylvania.
According to published reports, Christy had threatened to “use full lethal force on any law enforcement officer” who tried to arrest him, and had also threatened to shoot President Trump.
He is wanted on multiple warrants in Pennsylvania, including burglary, probation violation and failure to appear for an aggravated assault case, and is to be considered armed and extremely dangerous.
The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Maryland State Police, U.S. Marshal Service, Cumberland Police, Allegany County Emergency Services, Maryland State Police State Team, Trooper 5, as well as allied agencies from West Virginia conducted an extensive search of the Bowling Green area Sunday evening, but were unable to locate the man.  
Communications was conducted by the Allegany County 911 Center.
During the search it was found that a Red 1997 GMC Sierra pickup truck with Pennsylvania license plate ZGL-2845 was stolen from the Cumberland Pipe and Steel building in the Potomac Industrial Park. This is the area that Christy had been spotted, and he is considered a suspect in the theft.
Christy is 5-foot-10, weighs approximately 160 pounds, is a white male with a light complexion, a tattoo of a cross on his right upper arm, short dark blonde hair and a full beard. He also speaks with a noticeable lisp and claims to be a survivalist.
Federal authorities are offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to Christy's arrest.
