KEYSER - Downtown Keyser will soon be a bit more colorful as the Highland Arts Unlimited Inc. Mural Committee moves forward with placing a mural on the side of the building at the corner of North Main and Center streets.
The committee members and building owners Bill and Dawn Boggs have selected Peyton Root’s design for the 2018 Public Art Mural Project in downtown Keyser.
This mural will be painted on the side of 77 N. Main St. and will include images from Keyser’s entertaining past. Funds for this project were available through a grant from the US WindForce Foundation.
Peyton is the son of A.Jay and Betsy Root of Keyser. He is 13 years old and entering into his sophomore year at Keyser High School.
He has been drawing for several years and has received commendations on his work.
Recently he was one of four students selected by the Highland Arts Unlimited to create a 4' x 8' mural for the South End Amphitheatre located in Keyser. His lifelong goal is to work in the art field.
Highland Arts Unlimited wants to thank all the artists that submitted artwork for this mural. The design we selected has some historical details that will bring lots of memories from longtime residents of Mineral County.
