KEYSER- A special meeting of the Keyser City Council has been called for Monday, July 2, at 1 p.m. in council chambers to swear in newly elected officials mayor Damon Tillman and council member William Zacot, along with Jennifer Junkins who is a returning council member.
This comes after the Keyser city attorney John Athey sent a copy of a letter from former city attorney, Jack Barr, that had addressed the time frame for which newly elected officials had to be sworn when the question had arisen previously. The letter states the city has till July 10, to swear in elected  officials, whhich is ten days after the date upon which they would otherwise be required to undertake their duties.
The  special meeting agenda also will include Tillman’s choice for the position of Keyser City Police chief, which has to be approved by the council.
The regular City Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11.
