KEYSER - The Mineral County Board of Education Tuesday unanimously approved Lois Spencer as the new principal at Keyser High School.
Spencer will replace Mike Lewis, who resigned the position in February, to become effective June 30 when he assumes the principalship of Moundsville Middle School in Marshall County.
Spencer is not new to Keyser High School. Prior to her most recent position as principal of the Mineral County Tech Center, she was assistant principal at Keyser High School until 2016.
Board member Lara Courrier made the motion to appoint Spencer to the high school and Mary Jane Baniak seconded it.
The motion carried 5-0 with no discussion.
In another issue dealing with Keyser High School, the board went into what they said would be a “brief” executive session to discuss an item on the agenda listed as a “Keyser High school Employee Policy Violation.”
The closed-door session lasted 35 minutes, and when the board members returned to open session, no comment was made on the discussion.
