KEYSER - Mineral County Schools honored Teacher of the Year Sarah Jones and Service Personnel of the Year Sara Keplinger during a reception this week at the Technical Center.

KEYSER - Mineral County Schools honored Teacher of the Year Sarah Jones and Service Personnel of the Year Sara Keplinger during a reception this week at the Technical Center.
Jones is a special education teacher at Keyser Middle School. In accepting her award, she told the crowd, “I choose to be passionate about my job.
“We all strive on a daily basis to show caring and kindness to our students, as well as to instill a lifelong love of learning.”
Keplinger, a secretary/accountant, also works at Keyser Middle School.
She credited her family for instilling in her old-fashioned values which have guided her in her career.
“My parents taught me what hard work looked like and that it never hurt anyone,” she said.
Jones was nominated for the Teacher of the Year honor along with seven other nominees:
Jennifer Corwell, special education teacher, Frankfort Middle School.
Megan McKenzie, fifth grade teacher, Frankfort Middle School.
Juli Ravenscroft, second grade teacher, Keyser Primary School.
Mark Rhodes, technology education teacher, Frankfort Middle School.
Stephanie Stephen, third grade teacher, Keyser Primary School.
Heather Williams, music teacher, Keyser Middle School.
Carrie Willison, English teacher, Keyser Middle School.
Keplinger was nominated for Service Personnel of the Year along with four other nominees:
Cynthia Mills, executive secretary/accountant at the county office.
Nickole Price, paraprofessional at Wiley Ford Primary School.
Margaret “Roxie” Robertson, special needs paraprofessional at Keyser Primary School.
Rory “Butch” Secrist, custodian at Keyser Middle School.
The Teacher of the Year nominees were introduced by last year’s winner, Tommy Nester, and the Service Personnel of the Year nominees were introduced by last year’s winner, Darlene Garlitz.
Superintendent of schools Shawn Dilly presented the recipients with their awards, and Susan Grady, director of human resources, gave closing remarks.
