KEYSER - Ralph Gumbert, BSN RN CEN NE-BC, has joined WVU Medicine Potomac Valley Hospital as its Emergency Department manager.

KEYSER - Ralph Gumbert, BSN RN CEN NE-BC, has joined WVU Medicine Potomac Valley Hospital as its Emergency Department manager.
In this position, he will oversee the Emergency Department, focus on ED improvement and delivering a higher quality of care.
“Ralph holds a very important position within Potomac Valley Hospital, especially right now, as we are making changes to improve the overall quality of care patients are receiving,” said Mark Boucot, president and CEO of WVU Medicine Potomac Valley Hospital.
“Ralph has proven experience in managing an Emergency Department and we are confident in his ability to facilitate the changes that are needed.”
With more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare field, Gumbert most recently served as the director of emergency services at Saint Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey.
“The most important step at this time is improving the patient experience in the Emergency Department. To do that, we need to focus on quality care, patient safety and decreasing wait times,” he said.
Ralph began his career in healthcare as a volunteer EMT in Levittown, Pennsylvania. Sparking an interest in the then engineering student, Ralph went on to earn his Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Ralph continued to be a volunteer firefighter/paramedic for 25 years and also served as the EMS director for the City of Trenton for nine years.
After earning his Bachelor of Science degree, Ralph went on to became board certified in emergency nursing and is a board certified nurse ePVxecutive. He is also a certified instructor in ACLS, BCLS and PALS.
