The national theme for the day is “Pray for America - Unity,” and is based upon Ephesians 4:3, which challenges believers to “make every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace.”
The local observance will kick off the with traditional prayer breakfast beginning at 8 a.m. at the Ponderosa Steak House.
Guest speaker will be Scott Berg, the regional director for Wyld Life, a Christian program for middle school students which strives to provide activities led by role models in a faith-based atmosphere.
Tickets for the breakfast are $15 and may be purchased by calling Pastor Gordon Brubaker at 304-788-1910 or Frances Jones at 301-268-4479.
Deadline to purchase tickets is Thursday, April 26.
At noon, the prayer service will be held on the front lawn of the Mineral County Courthouse, with Pastor Gwen Wolford as the main speaker. Pastor of the Antioch United Methodist Church, she is also a member of the Wyld Life board.
