KEYSER - The Keyser City Council has given permission for New Revelation Lost & Found Worldwide Ministries  of Hagerstown to conduct a 3x3 basketball tournament on its outdoor basketball courts at the North, South and West End playgrounds.
The tournament will be open to ages 13 and up, and is expected to draw participants from all over the region.
Parks and recreation commissioner Jennifer Junkins first brought the proposal to her fellow council members during a March meeting, saying that the group would be utilizing all three basketball courts for a weekend in July.
During initial discussion of the request, some officials questioned the advisability of tying up all the city’s courts at one time.
“Kids no where in town will be able to play basketball that weekend,” Junkins said.
As plans for the event progressed, however, the group has announced that the one-day tournament, scheduled for Saturday, July 21, will only occupy the courts from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The council therefore unanimously approved their request during their March 28 meeting, and also included permission for the group to use the amphitheater at the South End for their program.
The tournament will divide the entries into two categories - ages 13-17 and ages 18 and up - and cost to enter per team is $30.
Teams my register online at the New Revelation Lost & Found Ministries Facebook page.
In addition to the tournament, recording artist and television personality Miz Tiffany (Fox’s “Empire” and Hulu’s “The First”) is scheduled to appear.
New Revelation Lost & Found Worldwide Ministries is the same group that sponsored the Men of God March in Piedmont in June 2017.
