KEYSER - Based on the Oscar-winning animated film and classic story by William Steig, “Shrek Jr. The Musical” is the Tony Award-winning adventure-filled musical that will be coming to Keyser April 12-15, courtesy of the Keyser Middle School Drama Department.
“Shrek the Musical” follows the story of one very grumpy ogre who lives alone in a swamp and is an unlikely hero. When the insecure and conniving Lord Farquaad expels all of the fairy tale characters from his kingdom, Shrek is forced into an epic adventure that will see him joined by an over-enthusiastic talking Donkey and a not-so-by-the-book Princess Fiona with a secret or two up her sleeve.
Featuring fantastic songs from Jeanine Tesori and a sidesplitting script by David Lindsay-Abaire,  “Shrek The Musical” brings the beloved characters you know from the film to life on their way to discovering the big bright beautiful world at the end of this fabulously fresh storybook journey.
“Shrek The Musical” is irreverent fun for the whole family and proves that beauty is truly in the eye of the ogre. Throw in a short tempered bad guy, a cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero.
Luckily, there's one on hand...and his name is Shrek.
