KEYSER - The Mineral County Chamber of Commerce downtown Keyser meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, March 29, at 7 p.m. at the Keyser American Legion, 66 S. Main St.
The meeting for downtown businesses and those who support them, as well as community and county leaders, was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was cancelled due to the weather.
It will be the last in a series of seven regional meetings being hosted by the chamber in an attempt to unify the county in matters of business, tourism, promotion and more.
The sixth meeting, for the South Keyser and New Creek areas, is scheduled for Tuesday, March 27, at 7 p.m. at the New Creek Fire Hall.
According to a letter circulated by John Lecky, chamber president, the purpose of the meeting is “to discuss how Downtown Keyser businesses can be more connected county-wide in Mineral County affairs, especially the Chamber of Commerce and the Convention and Visitors’ Bureau.”
In addition to the regional meetings, where discussion has centered around all types of topics, including the state of abandoned properties in Piedmont and the nature of the drug crisis discussed in the Frankfort District meeting (see Page 3 of today’s paper), Lecky has been meeting with municipal and county leaders to keep them updated on what the average citizen out on the street is saying about Mineral County.
Commission president Jerry Whisner is scheduled to attend tonight’s meeting, along with county coordinator Drew Brubaker and Mineral County Office of Emergency Management director Luke McKenzie.
All downtown business owners and/or employees, as well as those with an interest in helping make the downtown thrive again, are invited to attend.
