KEYSER - An afternoon traffic stop for speeding led to the arrest Saturday of three Mineral County residents on drug charges.
At 12:49 p.m. Keyser City Police say they observed a 2001 Toyota Camry speeding of James Street. After an on-scene investigation, police found 5.03 grams of heroin, 5.85 grams of fentanyl and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Officers arrested Phillip Arnold Bennett III, 29, of Piedmont; Sierra M. Lambert, 25, of Keyser; and Jeremy Collin Jennings, 39, of Burlington.
Each were charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, transporting heroin into the state of West Virginia, transporting fentanyl into the state of West Virginia, and conspiracy.
All three defendants remained jailed as of Monday morning at the Potomac Highland Regional Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond set for each of them by a Mineral County magistrate.
The 2001 Toyota that was registered and being operated by Bennett and occupied by Lambert and Jennings was impounded.
Keyser City Police were assisted by the West Virginia State police.
