BURLINGTON - Mineral County residents and business owners are encouraging everyone to display their black and blue over the next few weeks in support of Deputy Jeremy Franks and the law enforcement community.
Deputy Franks, who joined the Mineral County Sheriff’s Department in 2014, died Monday at his home near Burlington. Since then, black and blue drapes, as well as signs bearing his badge number, have started appearing throughout the area in a sign of solidarity.
Pictured above is the home of Jennifer and Tom Simpson near Burlington, who also raised the black and blue at Flying W Farms along Route 50.
“They put their lives on the line every day to keep us safe.  I think it is time that we are there for them,” said Jennifer Simpson. “I think this is an amazing way to show support and tribute for an amazing officer, a wonderful father and son.”
The employees of the Mineral County Courthouse placed a black drape over the main entrance to the building on Tuesday.
