KEYSER - A callout for photos for a community calendar this year not only opened the flood gates for dozens of local photographers, but it also morphed our project into something a bit different.
For the third year in a row, the News Tribune asked local photographers last October to submit photos for a community calendar.
The project was always a successful one, but this year’s was so successful that it resulted in way too many photos that were just too good to not be shared.
The staff at the hometown newspaper has therefore decided to scrap the calendar project and to feature, instead, a Photo of the Week every week in 2018.
Above you will see the first entry, “Winter on New Creek,” by Rick Dyer. Rick has been a regular contributor to our community photo calendars, and has an excellent eye for the beauty of the local area in which we live.
Our plan is to feature a Photo of the Week on the front page every Tuesday. The photos will be chosen from all the entries we received, and will be run in random order.
And so, we hope you enjoy this celebration of our local area, and perhaps these photos just might inspire you to go out and take some of your own!
