KEYSER - Those wishing to run for mayor or two of the five seats on the Keyser City Council may start filing on Monday, Jan. 8.
Mayor Ed Miller’s seat comes open in 2018, as well as the council seats currently held by Sonny Alt and Jennifer Junkins.
The seats occupied by council members Terry Liller, Karol Ashenfelter and Eric Murphy do not come open at that time.
The filing period is from Jan. 8-27, and the cost of filing for either the mayor or council seats is $24.
According to a press release from town clerk Brandi Paugh, candidates for office in the City of Keyser “shall file a certificate of announcement with the city clerk.
“The certificates of announcement shall be on a form prescribed by the secretary of state in which the candidate shall make a sworn statement before a notary public or other officer authorized to administer oaths.”
