KEYSER - The 2017 Keyser Christmas parade will be this Friday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m.

KEYSER - The 2017 Keyser Christmas parade will be this Friday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m.
The parade will travel north on Main Street, through the downtown business section, and turn right onto Armstrong Street, then disband on Water Street - the same as it has in the recent past.
Units will begin lining up at 6 p.m.
Parade coordinator and  Keyser City Councilwoman Jennifer Junkins says they expect there to be a lot of candy given out during the parde this year.
“Towards the beginning of the parade, there will be a section of units that are throwing candy from vehicles without walkers, then there will be some units giving candy out with walkers throughout the middle of the parade; and then at the end of the parade there will be many units throwing candy out from vehicles and floats without walkers,” she said.
“ We have tried to place the vehicles throwing candy without walkers all together so those sections will know to be extra cautious for watching for children retrieving candy. The City asks that parents and adult onlookers PLEASE watch to make sure children are not running in front of vehicles trying to retrieve candy. We would like to allow units to continue to give out candy but safety must be maintained!
“That being said,” Junkins continued, “all of the space in sections where candy is allowed to be thrown without walkers is now full so any last-minute entries that would like to distribute candy MUST have walkers with the unit to help make sure the candy gets to the sidewalks.”
All last-minute entries that are not listed in the lineup below are to report to Ward Avenue between Sout Main Street and Route 220/Mineral Street, including all fire/EMS units that are not listed elsewhere.
You may still submit an application to participate in the parade either by faxing to 888-788-3216 or emailing JenJunkins@outlook.com. You may also submit an application online by visiting the Keyser Christmas Parade Facebook page, clicking the signup link and filling out the online form.
For any questions, you may reach Jennifer Junkins at 304-209-1882 after 4 p.m.
