PIEDMONT - A Mineral County 911 call for a report of a vehicle into a telephone pole left many people without power and led to the arrest of a local woman.

PIEDMONT - A Mineral County 911 call for a report of a vehicle into a telephone pole left many people without power and led to the arrest of a local woman.
The call came in Sunday evening at 5:57 p.m., and officers and EMS were alerted to the scene. 32 year-old Cassie Ray Salesky had veered off the road and struck a utility pole near Duckies Bar and Grill. She took out one utility pole with her vehicle which created a domino affect and cause two more utility poles to fall.
Residents at the scene said transformers  were heard exploding as they came crashing down.
Piedmont residents and many in Westernport and Luke were left without power through out the night into the early morning hours Monday.
Salesky was arrested and charge with driving under the influence and transported to Potomac Highland Regional Jail. The accident was handled by the Mineral County Sheriff’s office.
Also responding was Tri-Towns EMS, Keyser EMS, Department of Highway Safety Officers, Piedmont Fire Department, Keyser Fire Department, Office of Emergency Management, and Tri-Towns Fire Department.
A towing company was alerted as well as Frontier Communications, and First Energy.
