KEYSER - Currently ranked 15th in their group, the Keyser High School Golden Tornado Band will head to Fairmont this coming weekend for the Chapter 13 championships.
Previously ranked at No. 11, the band was not in competition last weekend due to Homecoming and therefore dropped four spots in the Tournament of Bands ratings for Week Six.
Previously, the band once again took first place in Group 2-O, earning a score of 86.15 and taking top honors for visuals, music, auxiliary and percussion during the competition held Oct. 7 at Tyrone, Pennsylvania.
This Saturday, Keyser will be taking part in championships at Fairmont State University.
The competition is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m., and Keyser is scheduled to take the field at 6:55 p.m.
The entire schedule is as follows:
Group 1A:
6:10 p.m. - Northern Garrett High School of Accident, Maryland.
6:25 p.m, - Southern Garrett High School of Oakland, Maryland.
Group 2A:
6:40 p.m. - Pocahontas High School of Marlinton, West VIrginia.
Group 2-O:
6:55 p.m.: Keyser.
Group 3-O:
7:10 p.m. - Greenbrier East High School of Lewisburg, West VIrginia.
Group 4-):
7:25 p.m. - Preston High School of Kingwood.
7:40 p.m. - Fairmont High School of Fairmont.
The Fairmont State University Fighting Falcons Marching band will perform in exhibition.
Gates will open at 5:15 p.m. and admission is $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children.
