KEYSER - The Keyser High School Class of 1977 is planning a very special reunion this fall - one that will be significant to the entire school.
The class will not only be celebrating their 40th anniversary in conjunction with Keyser’s Homecoming this year, but they will also be marking the anniversary of the year Keyser and Piedmont high schools became one.
With the significance of that consolidation in mind, members of the Class of ’77 will be sharing their remembrances of that first year together with the current students during an assembly on the morning of Friday, Oct. 13.
A panel of several members of the class, moderated by class member Leontyne “Gaye” Clay Peck, will speak to the student body about their experiences and what they learned from it.
That evening, from 5-6:30 p.m., the classmates, family and teachers will be holding a “meet and greet” reception in the KHS cafeteria, prior to attending the Homecoming game against Allegany.
The class will sit together and be recognized during pre-game festivities, and will also present a donation from the class to the KHS Athletic Complex.
Following the game, a “Sounds of the ‘70s” dance will be held from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Keyser VFW, 179 Armstrong St., with DJ Scott Furey.
Tickets are $20 per person and $25 per couple, and checks should be sent to Leontyne Peck, 45 Englewood Dr., Palmyra, VA 22963.
Deadline to send checks is Friday, Sept. 15.
Those class members wishing to contribute to the donation to the athletic complex may make their check out to Keyser High School and mail it to Shaun Dorsey, 305 N. Water St., Keyser, WV 26726.
