KEYSER - A 19-year-old Keyser man faces several charges after an incident that took place Sunday, Aug. 27.
Keyser City Police responded to a disturbance call at a convenience store on the corner of South Mineral and Piedmont streets where it was reported that a male subject had pulled a knife on somebody.
Upon arrival of officers, Logan Tyler Lewis fled the scene on foot. Officers pursued Lewis, observing him allegedly throwing a handgun down on the ground. Officers apprehended him in Blackberry Alley behind the convenience store.
The gun that was recovered was a .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun, and had been reported stolen April, 22, 2017, from another location in Mineral County. Officer never located or saw a knife.
Lewis was charged with receiving stolen property, misdemeanor possession of a controlled dangerous substance, carrying a deadly weapon and obstructing a police officer. He was transported to Potomac Highlands Regional Jail in Augusta.
Keyser City Police again had to pursue an individual on Monday, Aug. 28, after the individual fled on foot.
Keyser City Police responded to a call saying that there was a 15-year-old unruly individual at a residence. The family called for assistance. Upon arrival officers were informed by the juvenile probation office that the individual had a juvenile probation violation against them and officers took the juvenile into custody.
The juvenile was then prepared for transport to J. M. Chick Buckbee Juvenile Center in Augusta. Upon leaving the police station for transport, however, the juvenile who had not been handcuffed due to being cooperative, fled on foot trying to evade officers.
Mineral County Sheriff’s Office also aided in the search for the juvenile. The juvenile was found a short time later and then transferred to Augusta.
