KEYSER – The Mineral Daily News Tribune is proud to announce we are now accepting photos for our 2018 Community Photo Calendar. The News Tribune has previous printed two calendars featuring beautiful full-color photos submitted by our readers. The 2016 calendar featured reader Nancy Radcliffe’s beautiful image of horses in front of a barn on the cover, and the 2017 calendar featured Rick Dyer’s photo of a rainbow stretching over a field along Hooker Hollow Road. Deadline to submit photos for consideration in the glossy, full-color calendar is Monday, Oct. 2. Each month will feature a different photo, and so we are looking for photos of all types – scenery, pets, closeups – whatever you feel displays the qualities of a good feature photo and therefore captures the imagination and “speaks” to those who see it. Please note: There is a difference between a snapshot and a photo, and we are looking for the more creative photos! And because we are looking for a whole year’s worth of photos, we invite entries with a seasonal theme – spring, summer, fall, and winter, or the holidays – but they don’t need to be “timely” at all. Just whatever you feel is your best work and something that others can enjoy. Photos taken in the News Tribune’s readership area will be given preference, but those taken anywhere in West Virginia or Western Maryland will be considered. Photos should be brought to the News Tribune office on a memory card or thumb drive, or can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. They should be high resolution and horizontal in nature. Vertical photos will not be considered. Photos with people in them should include permission from the subjects for the News Tribune to use their photo. The News Tribune staff will be choosing the photos for the calendar, and their decisions are final. Each photo used in the calendar will be credited to the photographer and may include a title or short explanation of the subject matter. The calendars will be distributed inside the News Tribune, as well as extra copies being available at the NT office. Publication date is Oct. 27. This is your chance to share your photography ... so start snapping!
