PIEDMONT - A change in the office staff recently took place at the Piedmont Council chambers and a new part time clerk was appointed to assist with duties on a temporary basis.
A motion by the commissioners gave the go ahead for Carrie Lewis to fill the spot vacated by Michelle Boggs, who held the part time clerk position for several months but resigned to move on to another place of employment.
Mayor Ben Smith called this an “emergency, because we have to keep the city going.”
He also explained that an advertisement will be published for the hiring of a parttime clerk, with the last day to receive applications to be July 25.
It was suggested by council members that the process to hire a new office staff member could happen quicker if a resume was included with the application.
Phil Hollingsworth was recently hired to be the full-time clerk, replacing Debbie Weasenforth, who did not complete her 90-day probationary period.
