RIDGELEY – June means election time in Ridgeley and voters who are unable to cast their ballot on June 13 are invited to participate in early voting Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. at the town hall.
This year’s election will be held from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, at the Life Center Building (formerly the Senior Citizen Building) on Second Avenue across from the American Legion and St. Anthony’s Church.
On this year’s ballot are incumbent Mayor Lynn Carr, who is being challenged to retain his seat by Sondra McDaniel.
Incumbent commissioners Butch Hawse, Mark Jones and Don McFarland are seeking re-election. Five seats on the council are up for election this year, and rounding out the ballot are James Twigg, Justin Golden and Tanya Ryan.
Three residents are running as write-in candidates, which voters must write in their name and that they are seeking to run for council on the front of the ballot.
Write in candidates include David Jenkins, Sandra Allen and Duke Lantz.
“Have a safe and enjoyable summer and don’t forget to vote in the town election,” said Carr.
 “As summer begins, we need to watch our speed and keep an eye for our children playing and crossing the street,” he added. “Please watch for events being held at the Community Center. A wide range of events are being planned all summer long.”
