KEYSER - Keyser Evening Kiwanis had as guest speaker Drew Brubaker, new Mineral County coordinator, who was introduced by acting program chair Clyde Burdock.
Brubaker’s job combines the work of retiring Mike Bland and also the work of retired county planner Scott Clay.  Bland will be available for awhile to advise Mr. Brubaker in his efforts. Drew also said he is fortunate to have longtime assistant Rhonda Beeman.
Having been reared in the Canaan Valley area of Tucker County, Brubaker came to Mineral County to attend Potomac State College. He served as Student Body president while there. He earned a bachelor’s degree at Potomac State in business management, and worked at the Mineral Daily News Tribune before occupying a position at the courthouse.
Mr. Brubaker became an appraiser in the Assessor’s office.
With his new position, he oversees various aspects of the county government.
He monitors the budget and staffing.  Only in his second week, he says he is in a learning mode.
When asked by Kiwanis member Jay Badenhoop about the biggest challenge he faces, he mentioned tax revenue, but said the commission has resolved for now much of that concern.
