KEYSER -- Potomac State extended their home winning streak to 24 games as they easily dispatched the JV squad of Southern Virginia University 112-78 Thursday night.
Malcolm Weathers led the Catamounts with 24 points, with 16 points coming from Kyle Jackson, 11 from Nequan Carrington, and 10 scored by Justin Milstead. Sam Armstrong had 24 points--including six threes--while Jake Fisher had 18 and Raheim Page had 17 for the Knights in the loss.
Potomac State led for virtually the entire game, but early on the game was close, with a combination of messy handling from the Catamounts and hot shooting from Armstrong--who scored nine of SVU's first ten points--helped keep the game within single digits for most of the first half.
An 11-1 run from Potomac State helped push the margin to a more comfortable point, and the Catamounts finished on an 11-3 spree in the final 1:20 to take a 20 point lead at the half, 52-32.
Coach Justin Carpenter took a technical foul in the first minute of the second half, but this would be one of the few negative points Potomac State would endure from that point forward as the Catamounts went on a 16-0 run after those split free throws to virtually ice the game with still 16 minutes remaining.
Potomac State looks to keep the momentum going against Mercyhurst North East, with a scheduled tipoff Saturday afternoon at 4 pm.
