The meeting of the Tri-Towns Church Women United was held at the Westernport Church of the Brethren at noon on March 8, 2008.  Prior to the meeting, the ladies of the Church of the Brethren treated CWU members to a delicious lunch.
Phyllis Lewis gave readings, “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” and “Prepare for Easter”.  She and Debbie Morton presented a skit.  Jeanne Thrasher opened the meeting, and there were 21 people present, representing 11 churches.
Joann Shimer read the minutes of the previous meeting and a letter that we received thanking us for our last box of female supplies for soldiers.  Holly Fazenbaker gave the treasurer’s report.   The yearly donations to the Potomac Fire Department, Tri-Towns Fire Department, Bloomington Fire Department, and the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad were sent.
Announcements were made that various churches will be holding Easter sunrise services as well as breakfast.  Everyone was encouraged to attend one of these services
CWU members will hold a service regarding May Friendship Day and Human Rights Celebration at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Methodist Church on May 10.  A luncheon will follow.   Everyone is invited to attend this service.
Local churches were asked to donate feminine personal items to be sent to Iraq. The response was overwhelming as there were many bags of supplies.  Peggy Boal will send a box on Monday.
Alberta Coleman stated that the after school program, held at the Trinity United Methodist Church, will hold a service at 4:00 p.m. on April 20.  They need people to sing for this fundraising event.  The public is invited.
The Good Friday service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church at noon on March 21.  The Palm Sunday procession will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Westernport Church of the Brethren on March 16.  Debbie and John Morton will pick up the donkey to be used in the procession.  Palms will be passed out to people who line Main Street and Ashfield Street.  CWU members should walk in the procession. 
The Palm Sunday service will be held at 5:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church.  United will provide music, and refreshments will be served.
Biblical Storytelling will be held at St. George’s Episcopal Church, Mt. Savage, on Saturday, April 12 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
Prayers and concerns were mentioned, and the meeting was adjourned.  The next meeting will be held at noon on Saturday, April 12, at the Piedmont Presbyterian Church.
