One of the largest and oldest reunions in the South Branch Valley of Eastern West Virginia will occur on Sunday, August 24, 2008 near the Grant-Pendleton County line, ten miles south of Petersburg, West Virginia on US ROUTE 220.
The highlight of the Alt-Kimble Reunion is the annual meeting held at the Old Judy Log Church, built in 1837 and since restored by the Reunion Association.
According to Chairman Timmy Rodgers, this year’s event will begin with church services at 10:00 a. m. in the log church with the Reverend Brady Goldizen officiating. Entertainment will be provided by Wendell Nelson. The afternoon guest speaker will be West Virginia State Senator Clark Barnes.
This year’s reunion is expected to draw a large crowd of nearly 500 people. The reunion will be covered by radio station WELD in Fisher, W.Va.
There will be several prizes awarded to those in attendance in the following categories:
1. Oldest Person -Male and Female
2. Oldest Wedding Anniversary
3. Youngest Married Couple
4. Youngest Grandmother
5. Youngest Grandfather
6. Youngest Baby
7. Person Traveling the farthest distance
8. Family with the largest number present
Concessions will be provided by the Reunion Association and everyone is welcome to come and spend the day.
