A house fire on Route 50 about a mile west of Route 42 in Elk District brought four fire companies to the scene of the burning structure late Wednesday.
Responding to the 11:25 p.m. alert was Elk District, Mt. Storm, Kitzmiller, and New Creek fire companies, as well as Elk District Ambulance Service.
The house, owned by Elk Garden residents Brit and Marsha Carpenter, was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.
According to Elk District Fire Chief Walt Ward, the damage to the structure is estimated at around $65,000.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the West Virginia Fire Marshal.
