Keyser, W.Va. -

Regina Brooks, owner of the new urban apparel and accessory store Urban Xpress has always had a thing for the latest styles.

That’s why she opened up a new brand name discount clothing store to provide residents with a local venue without having to travel out of town to snag the latest threads.

“It has been my dream to open up this store for a long time,” said Brooks, a Keyser resident and 1988 graduate of Keyser High School. “I’ve always been into clothes. The styles change so fast.”

Carrying such brand names as South Pole, Polo, Nike, Reebok, Baby Phat, Apple Bottom and many others, Brooks hopes to expand her selection to include more brand name shoes, purses and jewelry.

“I’m hoping to start carrying more shoes,” she said. “There is no place around here to get brand name shoes. You have to go to Cumberland or even further.”

Next month, Brooks is traveling to Atlanta to pick up some more clothing for her inventory as well as expanding her accounts to include even more top-of-the line apparel.

“We want to get more accounts and get regular business,” said Brooks. “Right now we have ordered a lot of our stuff online.”

The store, which carries apparel and accessories for men, women and children, is expanding its selection to include more casual and formal wear.

Brooks hopes in the future to design and market her own brand of clothing.

Located at 69 Center Street directly across from Amanda’s Dance Reflections, Urban Xpress is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The store can be reached by calling 304-788-2815.
