Mineral County FFA competes at national level

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Members of the Mineral County FFA Chapter recently received special recognition in the National FFA Chapter Award program at the 82nd National FFA Convention held Oct. 21 -24.
There, the chapter received a National Gold emblem two star ranking. 
Mineral County FFA was among chapters recognized from across the country  for conducting a wide variety of events focusing on student, chapter and community development.
Throughout the year, chapters are encouraged to develop a detailed Program of Activities. These projects provide citizenship, personal and leadership development opportunities to students. The National FFA Chapter Award program is a way to showcase the dynamic and creative efforts of these youth. Participants enjoy the chance to work with community leaders, partner groups and school organizations. Chapters are recognized on the local, state and national levels.
Mineral County chapter members attending the National Chapter Awards ceremony were:  Heather Whetzel, Jessica Woodworth, Sarah Miller, Lauren Streets, Kyle Kesner, Bradley Kesecker, Kaylee Self, Rachel Jenkins, Ryan Turner, James Kirk, and Levi Spencer.
The National FFA Chapter award program is sponsored by Cargill and Land O’ Lakes as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
FFA is a national youth organization of 507,763  student members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture with 7,439 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
