KEYSER - Mineral County's Board of Education levy election scheduled for Saturday has been canceled due to the weather-related state of emergency in West Virginia.

Gov. Joe Manchin declared the state of emergency around 1 p.m. Friday as the state continued to get slammed by what has been predicted as the worst snowstorm of the  year. A short time later, Mineral County Clerk Lauren Ellifritz announced that the election had been canceled.

Ellifritz told the News Tribune Thursday that the only thing that  might result in a cancellation of the election would be a declaration of emergency by the Governor.

Ellifritz said the election has been rescheduled for March 6, and information on early voting will be released at a later date.
