KEYSER – The National Weather Service has updated the status for the area to a winter storm warning which will remain in effect from 10 a.m. Friday to 10 p.m. Saturday.
Heavy snow is expected to start falling by mid-morning Friday, with conditions deteriorating rapidly by the afternoon. Heaviest snowfall is expected to occur between sunset Friday and sunrise Saturday, with the most hazardous winter weather conditions occurring Friday night.
With the combination of heavy snow and strong winds, visibility at times is expected to be reduced to one quarter of a mile, producing near-blizzard conditions at times Friday night and early Saturday morning.
