SHORT GAP - The Southern Lady Rams used a big second quarter to defeat the Frankfort Lady Falcons, 46-32, on Monday evening in Short Gap.
Southern led by just a point, 10-9, after the opening period of play, but the Lady Rams outscored the home team, 14-5, in the second quarter to take a 24-14 lead at the break.
Southern upped its lead to 12 points, 35-23, heading into the fourth quarter.
Shayna Sweitzer led Southern with a game-high 17 points, while Diane Dayton and Aira Whiteman led Frankfort with 8 points and 6 rebounds each.
Southern also won the JV game, 40-33.
Anna Kifer and Claire Wilkinson each had 13 points to lead Southern, while Morghan Snyder had 10 points to lead the Lady Falcs.
Frankfort (9-4) will return to action Friday when they travel to take on Mountain Ridge at 7:30 p.m.

CUMBERLAND - The Fort Hill Lady Sentinels held Keyser below double digits in the first half and then held off a late run for a 50-47 victory last Saturday night in Cumberland.
Fort Hill jumped out to a 19-8 lead after the first quarter and then held Keyser to just one point in the second frame to take a 26-9 lead at the half.
The Lady Tornado then outscored Fort Hill 16-7 in the third quarter to cut their deficit to 13 points, 38-25, heading into the fourth quarter.
Lindsey Fisher led Fort Hill with 14 points, while Becky Miller added 13.
Casse Donahue chipped in with 8 assists and 8 rebounds.
Kourtni Roby led Keyser with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Kacee Whetzel added 11 points and 10 boards.
Keyser won the JV game, 40-36.
Mariah Bartlett led Keyser with 16 points, while Andrea Armstrong had 15 for Fort Hill.
Keyser (3-13) will return to action Thursday when it travels to take on Southern at 7:30.
