SHORT GAP - Colby Kiggins and Blake Mangold each won individual championships to help Keyser win the Potomac Valley Conference wrestling tournament over the weekend at Frankfort High School.
Kiggins, wrestling in the 103-pound class, pinned Martinsburg's Chris Parker in 3 minutes to win that title, while Mangold pinned Musselman's Luke Dawson in 5:15 to win the 145-pound class.
Keyser finished ahead of eight other teams to win the team title with 178 points.
Musselman finished second with 172 points, followed by Hedgesville (165 points), Berkeley Springs (158), Petersburg (126), Martinsburg (70.5), Jefferson (60.5), Frankfort (57.5) and Moorefield (10).
The Golden Tornado had two second-place finishers: Alan Frush (112 pounds) and Tommy Stark (130), while Brandon Harris (125), Jordan Mellott (189) and Aaron Nelson (275) all finished third in their respective weight classes.
Keyser also had four fourth-place finishers: Taven Rohrbaugh (119), Lukas Rexrode (140), Brandon Swick (152) and Tanner Shoemaker (215).
Frankfort had one wrestler finish second, as Ben Snoberger placed in the 152-pound class, while Dalton Layton (145), Scott Myers (160), and Dallen Rust (171) each finished fourth.
Following the tournament, Keyser head coach Cary Kyle was named the Potomac Valley Conference coach of the year.
