First United in Piedmont is robbed; police searching for suspect

PIEDMONT - The First United Bank & Trust Piedmont branch was robbed this afternoon, sparking a manhunt by West Virginia and Maryland law enforcement.

The Maryland State Police Medevac kept circling the area Monday afternoon, while the K-9 unit from the Mineral County Sheriff's Office searched the back streets off Ashfield Street.

The suspect was described as a white male in his 60s, wearing blue jeans and a black hoodie. It was not immediately known if a weapon was displayed during the robbery.
