ELK GARDEN - The upcoming Elk Garden municipal election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 11, and all seven town office positions will be on the ballot, including mayor, recorder, and five council members.
Starting Monday, Jan. 14, the candidate-filing period will begin and will continue until Saturday, Jan. 26.
Living within the Elk Garden town limits is the only requirement to file for a municipal office, and no filing fee is needed.
The town hall will be opened on Monday, Jan. 14, and Monday, Jan. 21, from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., on both days to make available and/or receive completed candidates' certificate of announcement.
At other times, Barbara Timbrook, town recorder, may be contacted to request a certificate of announcement or submit the competed paper.
Among the information needed on the announcement document are legal name, address, and the declaration of which municipal office is being sought.
The completed certificate must be notarized and returned to Timbrook, with a deadline by hand delivery on Saturday, Jan. 26, or if mailed, postmarked by the same date.
