Jerry W. Leatherman, 65, of Third Street, Keyser, WV, died Thursday, September 27, 2012 at the Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser.
Born on July 4, 1947 at Antioch, WV, he was a son of the late Doyle Simpson and Evelyn G. (Leatherman) Knotts. He also was preceded in death by an infant half brother, Ronald Knotts.
Mr. Leatherman was retired as an independent truck driver, having driven for many years for Quality Supplier. He was a 1966 graduate of Keyser High School and was a member of the Knobley Church of the Brethren, New Creek, WV, the Owner-Operator Independent Driver Association (OOIDA) and was an avid motorcycle and drag racing enthusiast.
Surviving are his beloved stepfather, Ernest "Snuffy" Knotts of Antioch, WV; his loving wife of 32 years, Petranna "Tammy" (Sanders) Leatherman; four sons, Greg Leatherman of Stuart, FL, Scott Leatherman of Williston, ND, Jason Emry and wife Carol and Todd Leatherman, all of Keyser; one brother, Roger Leatherman of Antioch; two half brothers, Donald Knotts of Antioch and Marvin Elwood Simpson of Keyser; three half sisters, Rhonda Saville of Keyser, Marybelle Rowe of Morgantown, WV and Deloris "Sissy" Losh of Slanesville, WV and nine grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Randy Leatherman and Rev. Donna Leatherman officiating.
Interment will be in the Thrush Cemetery, Antioch, WV.
