KEYSER – Keyser City Police arrested and/or cited 20 people after receiving calls about two separate parties Saturday night.
In the first incident, which occurred at 10:35 p.m., the department was alerted by Potomac State College Police to a gathering just off campus, in which a group of young people appeared to be smoking marijuana. The group was sitting on steps just off Fort Avenue, and officers were dispatched to both the upper and lower ends of the walkway.
“When we pulled up at the bottom, they moved to the top of the steps, and our officer was there,” a Keyser Police spokesman said.
Arrested and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana were six Potomac State students:
Dante R. Francis, 18, of Springfield, Va.; Antone D. Murray, 19, of Baltimore; Corey V. Bailey, 18, of Baltimore; Kelayenehe T. Tilaye, 18, of Silver Spring; Cameron P. Jackson, 18, of Baltimore, and Kevin R. Chin-Young, 18, of Beacon, N.Y
All were issued citations and released.
An hour later, police received a call about a loud party in the 30 block of Virginia Street. After an investigation, numerous individuals were charged with a variety of offenses, including underage-drinking and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Charged were:
Faith E. Kuglar, 18, of Keyser, who was cited for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and underage possession and consumption of alcohol; Darlene Williams, 18, of Keyser, cited for underage possession and consumption; Anna M. Fife, 18, of Keyser, cited for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and underage consumption; Tyler W. Ward, 18, of Keyser, charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and underage consumption; Mariah N. Bartlett, 18, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and underage consumption; Bryan T. Spaid, 19, of Romney, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and underage consumption; Hannah L. Tranum, of Keyser – no age given – charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor; Brian K. Stansberry Jr., 19, of Keyser, contributing to the delinquency of a minor; Jesse D. Kessel, no age given, of Scherr, W.Va., charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor; Michael S. Hartman, 19, of Purgittsville, contributing to the delinquency of a minor; Jessica L. Peer, 23, of Ridgeley, W.Va., contributing to the delinquency of a minor and obstructing a police officer; Katrina M. Peer, 21, of Ridgeley; contributing to the delinquency of a minor; Charite W. Mellon, 18, of Ridgeley, contributing to the delinquency of a minor; and David Echaetea, 18, of Keyser, who was charged with underage possession and consumption of alcohol.
Five juveniles at the party were also detained. However, police determined they had not been drinking. They were released to the custody of their parents.
