On Saturday at approximately midnight, Maryland StateTroopers responded to the Pit N Go on Rt. 36 in Lonaconing, for a report of an assault. Upon arrival, Troopers found the victim lying on the ground with minor injuries to his head. A short time later, the male suspect, Jason Wayne Morris, 41, of Lonaconing was found behind the Pit N Go.
The investigation revealed that the two men became engaged in a verbal argument, which escalated into a physical assault. During the assault, the suspect retrieved a metal gardening object from a vehicle, and began striking the victim in the head.
The victim was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Morris was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault and Disorderly Conduct. He was being held pending a bond hearing. The investigation is continuing by Tfc. J. A. Buskirk, and additional charges are pending.
