Elizabeth (Serferian) Manoukian, 88, of New Creek, WV, formerly of Richmond, VA, passed away the evening of Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the Heartland of Keyser Nursing Home, Keyser, WV.
She was born on March 8, 1922 and was the widow of the late Der Boghos Manoukian.
Mrs. Manoukian was dearly loved by her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends and will be greatly missed. She loved us without boundaries and unconditionally and gave the world all she had. Her passion of learning about health and nutrition opened our eyes to new ways of living; she was ahead of her time. She also loved to cook and was happy to feed anyone that was hungry. She was a gifted sketch artist, pianist and singer and played the organ and served as the choir director for her church for 35 years. She sang like an angel and her voice teacher, Mrs. Ruby Stahl arranged for her to try out for the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, but she passed on the opportunity in order to take care of her family. As soul is love and light, she is full of eternal love and light and will always be with us. You gave love, light, life and joy to all who knew you.
With all our love, your family, Mariam, Haig and Michele, Peruz, Lucia, Alineh, Tagvor and Shelby, Julia and Will.
The Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at the St. James Armenian Church, Richmond, Va.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to either St. James Armenian Church, 834 Pepper Avenue Richmond, VA 23226 or to Lucia Manoukian, 44144 Alderwood Terrace, Ashburn, VA 20147 to assist the family in defraying funeral expenses.
