• First United Methodist Church, next to the Keyser Post Office, invites the community to its third annual "Karaoke Night" in the church parking lot on Saturday, Aug. 28, at 6 p.m.  Bring a friend, bring a lawn chair, and enjoy an evening of singing oldies and current hits, and maybe even doing some dancing in the street! This event is free of charge, and there will be free refreshments.  (In the event of rain, we will meet downstairs in the church fellowship hall.)

• Auditions for "Scrooge the Musical" will be held at McCoy Theatre in Moorefield on Friday, Aug. 27, and Saturday, Aug. 28, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, Aug. 29, from 2-4 p.m. If you are unable to attend one of these dates, please call 304-257-7659 or 304-538-6323 and alternate dates can be arranged. Participants are advised to be there at the very beginning and plan to stay until the end on the day you attend auditions. Come with a prepared song of your choice (not mandatory but preferred) ...and brush up on your English accents.

• The Keyser High Class of 1981 will have a reunion meeting on Saturday, Aug. 28, at  noon.  Please contact Nancy Bacorn-Williams at 304-279-2539 or Charlie Junkins at 304-813-0094 for directions to the meeting.  All classmates are invited to attend this important meeting to plan for next year’s 30th reunion.

• Elk Garden Assembly of God is having a Back-To-School Bash Saturday, Aug. 28, from noon to 4 p.m. in the church parking lot. Hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, a Moon Bounce, cake/cookie walks, face painting, and much more are planned. Giveaways include backpacks and other school supplies.  Come out and join the fun!  Everything is free.
