It was an afternoon of traffic tie-ups, wrecks and ensuing fender-benders along Route 220 south of Keyser Monday afternoon, with a three-vehicle accident at the entrance to Sheetz sparking miles-long backups in both directions that contributed to at least one minor accident along the highway, near Burger King. Another accident was reported on Stony Run Road just earlier. Both were reported as minor accidents. Three vehicles were involved in the Sheetz wreck, including the two above — which ended up in the roadway just south of the Sheetz entrance, with a third car disabled directly in front of the store. Two people were transported from the scene by New Creek Ambulance following the 2:55 p.m. accident. Fire and rescue crews from numerous area agencies responded to the incidents. tribune photo/richard kerns
