• Keyser High School Class of 59' will hold their annual picnic on Saturday, August 21st at the Ravenscroft Pavilon.  Meat and drinks will be provided.  Bring a covered dish and join the class at 4:00 p.m.  All classmates and guests are welcome.

• Burlington Ruritan will hold it's last Ice Cream Social of the season on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at the pavilion along U S Route 50  east of Burlington, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Angus burgers, hot dogs, sloppy joe, baked beans, freshly made cole slaw, pie and the Ruritan's famous ice cream are included on the menu. Donations accepted.

• The community is invited to a Support the Troops day at the Keyser Armory on Saturday, August 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The local National Guard is being deployed next month, so come out and show your support. Food, prizes, and soldiers will make an appearance.

•  The 113th annual Thorne Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 21, beginning at 5 p.m., at Camp Echo, Cabins, W.Va. Everyone is invited to spend the night; lodging (cabins) and bath houses are provided. Reunion continues through Sunday, Aug. 22, from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. Food, entertainment, door prizes and games. 50/50 drawing both days and raffle on Sunday. • The Mineral County Democratic Executive Committee will host a combination picnic and Meet the Candidates event on Sunday, Aug. 22, at 1 p.m. at the South End playground.  Hamburgers, hotdogs provided.  Covered dish.  Free.  Bring a friend.

• Mountainside Marine Corps League Detachment  #1071 is sponsoring a Longaberger Basket Bingo on Sunday, Aug. 22, at the Cumberland Eagles. Proceeds will support the Marine Corps League’s Scholarship Fund for Allegany College of Maryland and Potomac State College. Bingo starts at 2 p.m. There will be 20 regular bingo games and four quickie games, with a nice variety of Longaberger Baskets as prizes.
