Vivien Averil Corbin, 88, of Burlington, WV, died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD.
Born on October 4, 1921 in Oakridge Lynch, England, she was a daughter of the late George Albert and Marian A. Gardiner. Mrs. Corbin was also preceded in death on May 1, 2001 by her husband of 53 years whom she met during World War II in England. The youngest of eight children, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Corbin was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She attended the Beaver Run Church of the Brethren, Burlington.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda L. Springer of Burlington, Wanda V. Corbin of Inkster, Michigan and Marian Corbin-Rosa and husband Manuel of Montclair, NJ; two sons, Jim W. Corbin and wife Cynthia of Okemos, Michigan and Roy A. Corbin of Inkster; three grandchildren, James Springer of Austin, Texas, Austin Corbin and wife Kathlyn and Laura Corbin, all of Okemos; two great-granddaughters, Lily and Nevaeh and a sister-in-law, Helen Deverich of Romulus, Michigan.
Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 2-4 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Saturday immediately following the visitation at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Preston J. Miller officiating.
Interment will be in the Forest Glen Cemetery, Green Spring, WV.
